I’m Mario, an English Language Teaching student at UPNFM CURCEI in La Ceiba. This is where I’m collecting my work for LIN 2206 Introduction to Literature. I built the site myself, with a few things I enjoy along the way: software, Star Wars, and Inter de Milán.

A little about me

My full name is Mario Samuel Maldonado Bonilla. I study English Language Teaching at UPNFM CURCEI in La Ceiba, Honduras, and I also study Computer Science Engineering. Outside class, I build web and mobile software and help with my family’s business. Balancing those things keeps me busy, and it has taught me to organize my time and keep learning as I go.

Away from university and coding, I’m usually interested in football, Star Wars, or something about Italy. I support Inter de Milán and Club Deportivo Olimpia. Vader, Grievous, Yoda, and Maul are some of my favourite Star Wars characters, so they earned a place here. The theme is a personal touch; the coursework is still the reason for the portfolio.

What you’ll find here

This portfolio brings together my homework, reading quizzes, final essay, creative project, final exam, and reflection video for LIN 2206 with Mr. Héctor Cruz. I’ll add the corresponding files as they are ready.

I wanted everything in one place, easy to find on a phone or a computer. Building the site was also a chance to put my software skills into a university project.

How I approach learning

I learn best when I can try something, make sense of what went wrong, and try again. In class, that means reading carefully, asking questions, and taking feedback seriously. When several assignments arrive together, breaking the work into smaller steps helps me keep going.

As a future English teacher, I want to become better at explaining an idea clearly and listening to how someone else understands it. Reading different kinds of texts gives me useful practice.

When the scene does the talking

Vader’s entrance in Rogue One is one of my favourite examples of how a scene can say a lot before anyone speaks. The corridor, the silence, and the red blade do most of the work. Tap the scene to switch the lighting.

A character like Vader is also interesting to read as a tragic figure: his fear and the choices he makes matter as much as his appearance. That is a useful connection to concepts such as characterization, conflict, and tragic flaw.
